Yeah thats pretty much it, I also have not watched the 1977 version in a
while as I no longer have a quality copy of the origional. I suppose Greedo
may have shot back at Han but Han at the very least shoots first. I must
have watched that VHS about 200 times (hence why it is no longer in a
condition worth watching) and I am 99.9% sure Greedo never has time to shoot.

Please allow me to be the 0.1% that makes you 100% sure--Greedo did not shoot at
all in the original screen release. And here’s why: Because it made Han Solo a
self-interested rogue who wasn’t afraid to shoot first if it was expedient to do
so. Then, as the trilogy progresses, Han evolves from a selfish, metaphorically
back-stabbing “scoundrel” into a (perhaps reluctant) hero willing to fight for
something other than himself.

Besides, even if it was appropriate to the plot to have Greedo shoot first he
is sitting with his blaster about a foot from Han’s chest so if he did shoot
first (and miss buy at least another foot) he is about the worst shot in the
history of film, and that is saying something!

Nah, he could still out-score the famed Imperial Stormtroopers in a firefight.
The real problem with the revisionism of Greedo-shoots-first is that it
castrates the evolving Han Solo described above and turns him into a nice guy
who starts out as a nice guy and who does some things and who ends up being a
nice guy after all. Good heavens, George! Did you write this stuff while
conscious?
