The pessimist in me believes that TLG is referring to their Star Wars
line-up. The "Space Line" could very easily be interpreted as "Star Wars
Line."

That sounds likely; it's hard to get across the subtle difference between
"space-like" and LEGO System™ Space in spoken converstion, especially when
the speaker hasn't studied the historical product line carefully.  :)

No no no, we have had a disscussion about this and Star Wars is *not* Space.
SW is "Sci-Fi" like aquazone. How can something without airtubes and real
helmets be Space? That little luke fig would die if he opened his cockpit in
space.

But isn't Star Wars just "Star Wars Theme".

No, the LEGO Star Wars product line at minifig scale isn't a theme, it's a
System.  Play themes are subcategories of Systems.  Aquanauts is a play
theme within the Aquazone System, for example.  Time Cruisers and Time
Twisters are play themes within the Town System.  Ninja is a play theme
within the Castle System.  Insectoids and UFO are play themes within the
Space System.  LEGO Star Wars is a separate System from LEGO Space.

Of Course SW happens in space, BUT it has no Links to Lego Theme
Space, Town or any other Lego themes.   [...]

Right!

<SNIP> (...) Really? I´ve always said "space theme", "castle theme" etc. The system, I thoguht, was all sets with small bricks (duplo is not system). Then, inside the space theme, were several sub-themes like Blacktron. So, if Space is a system, (...) (25 years ago, 3-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)
