Yes, indeed! I've never seen a decent representation of the TNG bridge,
although I saw a FANTASTIC rendition of the TOS bridge! Phew, that thing
was BOOTIFUL! (Pardon my slang, I'm from Ba'wmor).
However, the only things I have to deal with is making the bridge round, and
I'm going to do that by off-setting bricks to give a rounded appearance ...
like how you might construct, for example, a tower: an octagon out of
bricks, with sloped pieces on the exterior to give a smooth appearance. It
won't be pretty, but since this ship isn't intended as more than Starfleet's
workhorse, it shouldn't be pretty to begin with.
Also - I forgot to answer a previous question. No, the ship won't be able
to seperate. Well, I might include some "explosive packets" in the nacelle
struts, the theory being that in an emergency, the bridge would be able to
blow the nacelles away (it wouldn't be pretty, but, hey).
> wowzers! a long-range project!
Yes, I don't think I'd have the patience for a project this large if it
WASN'T long range. And it's more than just the building of the ship ... I'm
going to chat with some buddies of mine at Flare who are into CGI ... I know
a couple of them have movie-era computer visuals, and I'd like to get those,
shrink 'em in size, and apply them to 1x2 and 2x4 flat pieces ... give the
ship some "authenticity." Also, I'd like to get ahold of a minifig torso
template, and design officer and enlisted uniforms (again, from the TOS movies).

I could ... but given the interior layout (well, currently), the ship isn't
exactly semetrical in some sections (especially the secondary hull), and I
think that would most likely present some serious PITA as far as making it
modular. I'm going into this project with the understanding that some
sections won't be able to be viewed when the project is finished. I do plan
on taking detailed pictures with a digital camera, and compiling a binder of
the photos, so people do know what is inside the ship (and, there will be
windows, and viewports, and escape pods of course, so people can see parts
of the ship, at least).
> Another reason why I haven't built a Trek ship in scale:)
Yeah, the layout is challenging, but it's VERY fun. It's helped me
visualize the ship, and cut excess "stuff." Plus, it's given me (I feel) an
inside look into building such large starships, even if not in Lego form.
You should give it a try, it's a lot of fun (well, it can be a bit
frustrating too...)
