Smaller than the Reliant's, actually.  Even including Helm and Nav, the only
other stations will be Tactical, Communication, Engineering, Operations, and
Sciences.  Well, & the Capt's chair, of course :)

I assume that you are going to make the bridge circular...that was one of the
many things that kept me from building the Star Trek sets. The 'wishbone'
weapons console on Enterprise-D is bad enough, but the floor sloped up too!

Oy, the money!  Well, I'm not planning on building it at all at once.  I'll
probably wind up spacing construction over a couple of years, mostly to
assist with mass Bricklink purchases :)

wowzers! a long-range project!

But it is possible to build. What are you going to use for reference? And do
you plan to make the ship able to open in sections? And do you plan to make
the saucer able to separate?

There aren't many sections which will be able to open -- with the exception,
of course, of sections of the ship with exterior doors: i.e., cargo bay,
shuttlebay, airlocks.  I was thinking about doing it modular, but I don't
think I have the skill to pull that off, and I'm afraid too many weak points
in the hull could comprimise such a large construction.

You could build a framework that can accomodate the parts and decks to allow
modularity. Technic pins are great for attaching modules.

I'm going to try and send 'em out to a buddy in CA with a scanner.  Mind
you, they're pencil on graph paper, and I have to go back out and flesh 'em
out a bit ... I realized after doing it (assuming each square was 36 square
pegs) that I hadn't accounted for width of Lego bricks, so everything seemed
nice and big and roomy ... and, ooops, those corridors will probably only be
two pegs wide!  Grrr.

Another reason why I haven't built a Trek ship in scale:)

(...) Yes, indeed! I've never seen a decent representation of the TNG bridge, although I saw a FANTASTIC rendition of the TOS bridge! Phew, that thing was BOOTIFUL! (Pardon my slang, I'm from Ba'wmor). However, the only things I have to deal with is (...) (22 years ago, 7-Apr-03, to lugnet.space)
