What is the minimum length (studs) of a 'capital ship'?

Honestly, I'd say this is kinda the wrong way to go about it-- I'd say size
doesn't make the ship, but function. I'd probably suggest that in order to
be a capital ship, it needs to:

- provide living space for crew (unlike, say, a fighter)

- constantly be in operation (IE, *someone's* always on duty, unlike the
Millenium Falcon, which HAS living space, but isn't constantly staffed)

- be able to serve a wide variety of tasks (not a strictly science vessel),
including medical aid, defensive/offensive capability, and storage/transport
ability (goods, and maybe personel).

Can a 'capital ship' land on a planet?
Can it take off again?

I'd say most capital ships probably *don't* land. Not to say they *can't*,
but it would be impractical. In an emergency, most COULD probably land,
though many might not be able to take off again.

Have you built a 'capital ship'?

Nope-- but I've considered it. Would be cool to get something together,
especially somewhat realistically designed with ~500 to ~700 square ft. of
living space per crew quarter (more for officers), sufficient area for
storage, medical area, engineering, recreation, bridge, brig, etc. Of course
those get to be the size of Dan's cruisers-- which I don't think I'm QUITE
ready to take on just yet :)
