Kent, I read your quick explaination of how to connect the Polaroid 6500 sonar board to the HandyBoard, and I have a couple of questions.... (URL) a system similiar to the Polaroid 6500, but costs <$10 to build. Has anyone done it? Should I try it and share the results? (of course I should!) I placed an order with Digital Micro Systems for two complete handyboard systems on 16-April-97. Delivery was promised by 5/12. It has not been received. w/o the ds1233, the contents of the ram will become corrupted during power-up or power-down of the 6811. an r/c could protect during power-up, but wouldn't reset the 6811 during power down. remember it's still trying to execute code as system (...) Howdy- I was wondering about the DS1233 EconoReset thingy- what would happen if it wasn't there and reset was just tied high or through a RC delay to high? Anyone know where to get a hold of one 6811 microprocessor for around $10? Everything I've seen sofar either wants you to buy in bulk (you have to buy 23 @ $7.11 from Motorolla) or almost $20 for 1 chip. This stinks! Any info would be appreciated. (...) (...) Are you holding down the STOP button? With the board powered on, read the voltage at pin 3 of the 6811. When pressing the STOP button, pin 3 should read between zero volts and 0.6v. Hello, I'm at a loss for what will take to get either of the two boards into DL mode. The board has nothing plugged into it; the BATT and PWR LEDs flash on and then PWR remains on so I can not confirm the synptoms of the ds1233(U12) voltage monitor (...) Over the past two days I have had two problems with my HB that I can't explain. Maybe you you can help. 1. I wrote a simple program to test out my motors that consists of the motor, sleep, and beep commands. Once in a while I get an error back while (...) Another note on soldering.. Heat control is VERY important.. Not so much being able to adjust the heat, as having a temperature-controlled iron. Often novices miss the single most fundamental point about soldering: you don't use the iron to melt the solder (99% of the time) -- you heat the component leads and let them melt the solder. Well, I seemed to have narrowed down the problem I was having with the Vector2x compass. It was functioning fine... All I had to do was write clean code that called comp_disable(1) at the end. Hi all, I am having lots of trouble with the vector 2x compass. Sometimes it seems to work fine. Other times it just ouputs zeros (like someone else was saying...). My problem is that I need to read in a floating point number through the serial port. I tried using the serial_getchar function to read in the number as an int, then convert it to a float, but that was unsuccessful. I also tried altering the (...)
