Yeah. For connect 4 I will probably get someone else to do the programming, but
not everyone has that option. I think I got the ball rolling at the post event
dinner that I wanted more of a programming challenge. Not that I love
programming, but I feel like nearly all of our events are lopsided and building
a robot becomes 90% mechanics, 10% programming. Maybe thats the way it should
be, who knows? I just found the rice game was incredibly difficult mechanically.
I think thats why there were so few entries.

Well, you built a robot for the battlebots thing didn't you? I wasn't there, but
judging from the pictures you did quite well.

You most defenitely have the skill. I think it just takes a LOT of time and
patience to get things working. So this is maybe a good reason to simplify
future competitions. I'm sure there are many others that get discouraged when
trying to build robots.
The capture the flag game had a good balance of fun and challenge. It wasn't
super difficult to build a functional robot, and many different approches could
be taken. It was almost up to the builder how challenging they wanted it to be.
I think the rice game would have been better if the goal was to simply dig
blocks out of the rice. That ended up being the most difficult part anyway. With
that simplification, I'll bet a lot more people would have built robots.
I think Iain is right, that maybe we should take a (few) steps back.
