I've got a Pelouze, a pretty accurate scale, and I have access to the rate
calculator (although it's a pain to use... my scale and my shipping supplies
are two stories away from where my computer normally is, and I have no plans
to put a computer in the basement just yet) but I have found that my
accuracy between those two things is only about 75%.
So I go the two trips route. The other alternative would be to guesstimate
more wildly and inflate the amount I charge for overseas more than I do
domestically, so as not to take the hit when I underestimate.
Overseas deals are a pain in the butt. Sorry but that's just the way it
is... you can argue the point all you want, I don't care. I didn't even talk
about how tedious it is to fill out customs forms!
