Sarah started the thread. As a note, I disagree with her but respect her
a great deal, consider her a steadfast RTL and LUGNET stalwart who I'd
reference any day.

On the timeliness issue:

I have moved from "gee, I need this piece to build X" to "well I know I
want more of these..." and when they arrive what I build is often
nothing like what I had in mind when I bid... For me, my VII winnings
will be a complete surprise and will kick off some neat builds. But I
also JUST digested the last few bags of VI winnings too.

That doesn't hold for everyone, but it's not an issue for me. Besides, I
am terminally slow myself. My This 'N' That auction winnings still have
not all been sent out (although bidders are aware...) Sarah's winnings
took 2 months to get out. People need to know that going in to deals
with me and I think I'm up front about it but I can't really grouse at
long delays by anyone else.

On the accuracy issue:

I have stopped checking bulk auction results except for a few spot
checks. But I buy too much to be bothered. My VII tab was less than my
VI tab, but still over 500 bucks I think. I have faith in Todd's
technology driven packout approach. There are some other people that I
don't check either. Not valid for everyone else, though, but not an
issue for me.

5) All other considerations aside, Lego collecting and distributing represent a
hobby for them (insofar as I am aware).  A _vastly_ time-consuming and engaging
hobby, but still a hobby.  They have to find the time and opportunity to
develop Lugnet and run Auczilla inbetween and around their commitments required
to put food on the table.

I think they went LEGO full time, but are coasting on retained earnings
for a while, if I recall correctly.

(...) I've only participated in one Auczilla so far, and while I'm a little frustrated by not receiving my winnings so far, I believe that the things that have contributed to that delay more than make up for it. Consider: 1) We're having this (...) (26 years ago, 16-Dec-98, to lugnet.market.auction)
