I've only participated in one Auczilla so far, and while I'm a little
frustrated by not receiving my winnings so far, I believe that the things that
have contributed to that delay more than make up for it.  Consider:

1) We're having this discussion on Lugnet.  Lugnet was designed, built and is
maintained by Todd & Suzanne.  I work in the industry, and from what I've seen
of the scope of Lugnet, even at the design stage it is at now, amounts to a
full-time job at most companies.  This considering that Lugnet is only at stage
1 of its eventual implimentation, is nothing short of monumental.

2) Auczilla is put together in such a way as to have most of the workload at
the end, rather than ahead of time.  This cuts the actual workload on Todd &
Suzanne a substantial amount.  If Auczilla was run in a conventional manner,
participants would receive their winnings within weeks of the auction's close,
but the auctions themselves would have at least twice the delay between them.

3) No other Lego auction I am aware of runs as large and as often as Auczilla.
They have not been able to attain their stated goal of 8-12 weeks turnaround
between auctions, but given the size and scope of Auczilla, I'm not surprised.
I suspect that Todd and Suzanne are neither the first nor the last people to
have a project turn out bigger than they expected.

4) Todd and Suzanne do this on their own, from start to finish.  While the
auction (I'm certain) turns a profit, I would be seriously surprised if, after
considering the amount of time involved, Todd and Suzanne "made" more than a
few cents an hour.

5) All other considerations aside, Lego collecting and distributing represent a
hobby for them (insofar as I am aware).  A _vastly_ time-consuming and engaging
hobby, but still a hobby.  They have to find the time and opportunity to
develop Lugnet and run Auczilla inbetween and around their commitments required
to put food on the table.

Just my 2 1/2 cents.

Sarah started the thread. As a note, I disagree with her but respect her a great deal, consider her a steadfast RTL and LUGNET stalwart who I'd reference any day.
