hey, right on the Red Robot is a favorite. I worked on the Red Robot for
about a year and a half, just to get all the pieces and get the stance
correct. I started work on the Robot in 1993 and finished in 1994. I went
thru several different hand and arm designs. The legs rasie and lower from a
standing position to a semi-crouched one. There are also lights in the head.
The Robot must maintain a balanced stance all the times. Once it's set you
can push on it a little and it rocks back and fourth. One of my pet peeves
is when someone touches it and they're not mindful of of it's balance. It
has fallen over during Art shows on occasion.

Um. . . WOW!  That giant red robot is simply amazing!  I have to ask you how
long it took you to figure out the engineering for something that massive.
How?!

Dave (these are the kinds of pictures that sometimes make me want to put my
Lego away forever, not that I would EVER do that, but sometimes I wonder:
"Will I ever make something that cool?")

(...) That's an amazing piece of work! How tall is it? What are it's functions? How many pieces do you estimate it has? Thanks, David (24 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.us.ny.bin)
