I think that my pet peeve has to be the total discontinuation of good themes
like Wild West, Pirates, Imperial Guards, Forrestmen and Black Knights.
Those were some of my favorite themes and I REALLY loved it that characters
did not change so much over time that you could build a reasonable army
without going out and snatching up *all* of the new releases. Parts and
color selections were second in my peeves list, but it really bugs me the
way LEGO themes don't really exsist anymore. LEGO only teases us with short
lived theme groupings that don't last long enough to really develop into a
nicely laid out story or unified color/set appearance. New stuff is good,
but old themes were better.
I find that I just buy new stuff for the parts I need to keep those old
themes going, and visit eBay any time I run out of decorative elements or
parts that are specific to that older theme. Good point on dropping parts,
sometimes we all complain about that and our own retrieval methods. Just be
thankful that it is not a worse condition.
