G'day Tim,

I saw you mention this survey in passing once before, but I think
I missed the original proposal.  So my question about this survey
is, "To what end?"  I.e., what's the goal?

It sounds like you would be doing work that TLC should be doing on
their own.  I know I wouldn't be doing their work for them for
free, regardless of what shape they're in and how much I like
their product (well, their *earlier* product).  But that's just me.

Hi Kyle -
The goal of a survey of this type is to show that Juniorization is not what
parents and kids want.  In some email I had exchanged with Tomas Clark, he
was advising me on this and the 'scientific' nature of it - ie. if this is
our obvious goal, then it could discredit the survey if the results are what
we were looking for.  So something would have to be carefully planned to
show that it was conducted in a non-biased manner.

Um, on my personal involvement, I've got some other more important projects
right now and I'm fast finding that I have to start prioritizing.  So, LDraw
and one other project will have to take up my time, and I won't be able to
participate in this way.

I agree that LEGO should do their own work, but at the same time the fans
have insight that I feel is very valuable to LEGO and their marketing
decisions.  I don't think the fans should be a nuisance about it, but we
shouldn't sit by either and watch LEGO make bad decisions without voicing
our opinions.

One thing that I appreciate about LD is they value honest open opinions of
the consumers - they don't want a caked over brown nose answer when it comes
to questions.  That says a lot to me, and I'm encouraged a lot by it.
Still, we have a long way to go with the company, but that's to be
understood.
