I think this is a wonderful idea.  I think it would be a much better item for
kids to collect than Bonicle.  I also think that a tub like 3033 with grey,
dark grey, brown, and tan as the four primary colors would be a "bestseller."

I for one highly doubt that 3033 is a loss leader.  I mean come on, Mega Blocks
is lower quality. It is not that much lower though.  Mega Blocks has R & D and
printing cost just like Lego.  So  a Mega Blocks battleship w/ 780pcs @ $20 vs.
the equivalent (If TLC still made any) Lego set @ $80-$90.  So there is a
$70-$80 differnce in material cost?  Yeah right.  The tub has no R & D costs
and minimal printing costs.  Two Mega Blocks tubs with 1400pcs @ $20  vs. a
Lego tub with 1200pcs @ $20 is probably the best indicator of the material cost
difference.

Accessory packs for the 3033 tub would not be that modular, but I like the • idea of
having manuals that would allow us to use the tubs to make varied and • challenging
models. And, it could be for models from 400 to 1200 plus pieces. IMO, boy • would
that be cool. :)

But, if you don't, we will still have the Mega Bloks.....

Just a thought.

(...) I actually emailed LEGO with this exact same thought! ... snip of my email... What I would like to see, are new 'Blue Tub' type values: a 1200 piece plates tub would sell very well, as would another basic brick tub with some basic slopes. (...) (...) I think that is a godd idea, too! (...) I kind of doubt that they are overpricing us. (24 years ago, 12-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

(...) Really? I haven't looked at Mega-Bloks tubs, so I didn't realize the price was that close. Looking at the per-brick price, we get: $0.0167 for LEGO $0.0143 for Mega-Bloks Or about a 14% markdown for MB (looking at it the other way, LEGO is (...) (...) I would like to make a suggestion to TLC: modularity. I'll explain and ramble a bit. I occasionally buy a Mega Bloks set for special colors, unique pieces, and fun. Mostly for fun. For $20US, you get a lot of fun assembling a large and (...) (24 years ago, 6-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)
