I bought too many multiples, tossed most of the instructions/boxes, and parted
them out into my parts.  I've also probably traded away several thousand • pieces
from new sets (I rarely EVER trade used pieces, I feel guilty about not • sending
out new parts).

I also probably have a good 20-40 lbs of stuff from various Ebay auctions, and
another 50+ on the way, so trying to keep track is just hopeless ;-)  And most
of that 70-90 lbs will go right back on Ebay in 5-10lb lots once I take the • few
parts I like out of them (it's getting REALLY bad when you buy 10 lbs, and • feel
happy you found 1/2-1 lb to keep, since your Wants are so specific, and you
already have too many basic bricks/plates).

And my "Shock Value" pile is less than half its' original size, as I sold off
half the 8480s, several more 5571s, and compacted 10 4561s into 3 boxes,
splitting some of the parts into my parts collection.  But I think the SV
stacks still total around 50-60,000 pieces.

Unfortuanately I still need to answer "who the heck knows" despite
having a spread sheet. This is because I add more sets faster than I can
get them into my spreadsheet (just take a look at my web site pictures
at http://www.mindspring.com/~ffilz/Lego/apartment.html to get a feel,
of course those are way out of date, or ask Mike Walsh [who has seen
much of the progression]).

I can make a somewhat educated guess though, I figure I've entered 1/3
to 1/2 of my collection.

Wow, do you have a mess. I guess it's been a good thing to be finacially
challenged most of my life, so that I wouldn't be in your position. (Hhhmm....
how many 8480's?) Just kidding, you have a most eviable position not to be
able to figure out anything. I've been much too greedy with my, until now, few
sets to trade anything out to anyone. let alone have a pile that you have to
wade through to get to the stuff you want. I may get to that point yet.
I thought I was doing well with 3 4561's considering that they'll be gone soon
too, and who knows what, or if, we'll get any other trains after that. I
started my list when I could and I'm able for now to keep up with it. Stuff I
get on ebay is either complete, or if I get instructions, it goes in my "don't
know if it's all there binder," and the parts get parcelled out to my parts
bins regardless. It's the new stuff that I pick up that mostly goes into the
list, and that's what I keep up with. I actually amost feel that I'm able to
be caught up soon. But the jury is still out on that, and who knows when I
wont be able to stay there...
