represent the model contained within it, not several, unless they all are part
of a larger model, (same tree root) i.e. the first file included in the MPD.

Which is exactly what I'm using it for.  :-,

Uhh hummm, I guess "virtual directory" isn't the best term, as it implies a
lot more functionality than what is possible.  How about "model container"?
