Think of music Mark, how many out there comment on it?  Almost
everyone.  How many of those are musicians?  Not too many, less than 1/10 of
1% I'd say.  And with a website almost anyone can publish an opinion.
Bearing all this in mind, you can have any thoughts about a creation to
your heart's content, how it's recieved, well, that's the creator's business.
Personally, I'd love to hear from anybody, with published work or not.
Sometimes the best comments will come from weirdest source.  Just because,
if nothing else, that individual may have a fresh view on the topic and will
see something the "trained" eye will not.  Plus, if you think there's
something a builder can do, but isn't, and maybe you don't know exactly how
to do it, that comment might be just the thing the builder needs.  IMO take
the leap Mark, talk.

Tony,

This question is for you and those of you who post a lot of pics.

How do you feel about critiques from people who have not posted any of
their own MOC's to be judged?  I usually hold back my negative remarks for
this reason.  I surely don't wanna be the kind of guy who judges others
while denying them the chance to judge me.

Though I have not tried building mecha yet.  I enjoy browsing the MOC's
that are posted here and I have learned quite a bit. My two cents may be of
some value.

So finally, I'll end with this question.  Do you guy's (girls too, of
course) take criticism from lurkers seriously or do you believe in put up
or shut up?

I'm going to put my 2 cents here. IMO Mark N's comments here, Mark N's comments there, and Brian Cooper's comments there are all valid in some ways. My own thought is that yes, this forum lacks any sort of real discussion, period. It's part of why I (...) (22 years ago, 11-Feb-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)
