This is a plauge in our group. I feel it and I know it is happening. I
understand that I have done it too. But from now on, I vow to say what I
really think about the creations I see here. Granted some of you will end up
getting pissed off at me. And you know what I say to that? GOOD!!! Why you
ask would I want you to get upset? To push you futher, make you build
better. If someone thinks your creation is good, then you build the same
way, over and over again, never really changing anything but the colors you
use and the story that goes with it. BUT if someone thinks it could use some
work, needs some polishing, or dare I say is not that great, then you will
either go back to the drawing board, start over and come up with something
WAY better, or you just whine and say what do they know, I am the best, and
hide in your stagnent brooding thoughts.

God bless you Tony. That was a wonderful post.

I'm farily new to LUGNET, but not to the creative process, and in the above
passage there is an important lesson that any creative person (ie. everyone
on LUGNET) needs to learn. That lesson can be summed up as :critisism of the
creation is NOT critisism of the creator. It can be difficult to not take a
negative critique personally sometimes, but my impression of LUGNET so far
is that no-one would ever do so vindictively. All critisisms, 'good' or
'bad' are only intended to help. If someone says a model sucks, that doesn't
mean the builder sucks.

So, for me at least, when I show a MOC, give me a no holds barred critique.
Not only can I take it, I REQUIRE it. I want to be able to build like the
masters. Once I understand mech building better, I hope others can accept
the same from me.

Thanks for listening,
Allister

(...) Hoooly crap! Someone finally had the balls to say it! I have been wanting to rant about this, but I figured everyone would think I am a jerk off. Now I get to prove it :D Anyway to my point...
