Perhaps not. Eric, while I can appreciate your enthusiasm for LEGO and for
your particular theme, I think you are being a bit unfair in this case. You
may wish to reread some of Rich's response... specifically this part:

Let's hope it's not too serious, but you know what? That 'something' that
happened may be a serious life event. It's hardly worth getting upset over
something about which we do know have full knowledge. LEGO is a hobby for
most people, it's something for fun, when time and other responsibilities
permit. But we all have lives away from LEGO, the internet and LUGNET etc.
Speaking for myself, my own well-being, that of my family and friends always
comes first. Then my job, my home, and maybe my time for sleeping.
Everything else is secondary. No offense Eric, but your interest in the
sidebar being updated isn't likely at the top of Dave's list of priorities
right now. It wouldn't be for me either... not matter how much I enjoyed
something like that.

Again, you may wish to carefully reread Rich's comments regarding Dave's
involvement in BZpower.

To you... and for reasons already mentioned. Your enthusiam is high.
Unfortunately, it sounds as though real life has dealt Dave something that
needing dealing with before the sidebar could be updated. Speaking as
someone who has had similar life events in the last few years, I really
think you need to relax and let this play out. I'm sure Dave will be in
touch when he can. For his sake, I hope that whatever has happened will
soon give way to better days.

Perhaps you could:
a) Try getting in touch with Dave privately. Have you emailed him?
b) Try getting in touch with the LUGNET admins. Maybe a case could be made
to transfer Curatorship to another person until Dave either returns or asks
for a replacement to be named.
c) Volunteer to be that curator yourself. (strictly on a temporary basis)
I know that you already contribute in other ways/places, but perhaps the
right thing to do at this time is to step up to the plate and help your
group through this rocky time.

Yes, but again you're not really hearing what Rich told you in his posting.
Please Eric, take a minute to read it again... I think it might make you
feel better about what's going on.

Do you have his phone #? Can you reach out to your acquaintance? Perhaps
he could use a friendly call about now.

Eric, the problem is that many of us *can* identify.... with Dave. We all
have events from time to time that take us by surprise and knock us off our
feet. Tragic sudden events can be a death in the family, a loss of a job, a
divorce, a flooded basement, a child who needs surgery.... the list goes on.
My heart goes out to Dave right now in the hopes he is dealing with
something less painful than any of these things, but that no matter what he
is dealing with that he comes through it o.k.
Try to remember Eric, this is fun stuff.... LEGO that is. Maybe try to
focus on your building for a while, rather than LUGNET. I'm sure things
will be back to your satisfaction sooner than you know it. In the grand
scheme of things, an out-of-date sidebar isn't really a show-stopper... it's
a pothole on the road of life.
Take care,
Allan B.

| Alan, with all due respect, spare me the platatudes, and stop making excuses for him. Flat out, things are 4 months behind and he could have avoided my calling out if he was just concious enough to let us know what's going on. (...) Dude. 4 months (...)
