Nice thread - I'll have to pick up a Technic Sub to get
a compressor tank (or is there one available cheaper
elsewhere?) Anyway...
Has anyone here seen the high-quality photo of the
soda-can grabber 'bot that Lego has at its Mindstorms
site? It uses a compressor and pneumatics for the
grabbing mechanism, and a full-size 8735 motor to
control the pneumatic switch.

You might want to consider the 8459 (front-end loader) it's only a little more expensive but has a compressor tank, three large pistons, and two pneumatic (...) (26 years ago, 15-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

| (...) I built a compressor with the large pump with the spring removed. It worked but it was too slow . It took 3-4 minutes before enough pressure was available to open a big piston just once. The compressor had to be geared very slow to provide (...) (25 years ago, 27-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics)
