I can see that someone might do this (although I wasn't intending to in
this case), and I have mixed feelings about whether or not it would be
OK. Including links to sales and auctions in a .sig has always been
acceptable, to my understanding. In fact there is (if I can find it...
yah here http://www.lugnet.com/admin/general/?n=1902) a post where Todd
told Mike S it was specifically OK to have links like that in ones sig.
But certainly someone could go overboard and post all over the place
simply in order to spam everyone with, for example, an auction flog in
the sig. It wasn't my intention to do that.
When I posted to .pirate, I was aware that I had already posted a for
sale notice, that someone might aleady have seen it, and that I didn't
want to come across as flogging in that post. That's why I took the
extra trouble to upload the pics to brickshelf and link there.
You mentioned earlier that I posted the for sale notice first and then,
a day later, to .pirate. There's a good reason for that. I have RSI in
both wrists and one shoulder, from too many years of programming. I have
to keep the number of hours per day on the computer down to a certain
amount (and some days I have to stay off it completely) and I have to
make money-earning computer-use a priority over fun use, otherwise I
don't eat. So, I don't post all that much at all compared to how much I
read (my posts to .auction are automated), my posts tend to be terse,
and commercial ones take priority.

I'd like to see theme groups under both market.auction and market.b-s-t,
and for sale as well as auction posts banned from theme groups
explicitly. When I went though lugnet.admin yesterday looking for info
on the "flogs in theme groups" long running discussion, I found a notice
from Todd back in April that a change to teh TOS was to be forthcoming
on the subject, but I couldn't find any actual announcement. Did the TOS
change actually happen? Todd?
