Because a lot of people are either not used to computers, or simply have
not been taught that it's safe to experiment. I've decided it's something
of a compliment if your users start playing with the system you wrote "to
see what happens", and then tell you about it. It means they trust both
you and the system, and that they expect it to work. This also tells you
something about the environment I work in...
