Except that installing vanity plates rarely causes a conflict with
your car-stereo, and wiper blades don't usually come with upgrades to
the electric system.(1)
LEGO Island includes DirectX 5, and when I installed it, I could no
longer use QuickRes to switch up to 1600x1200 on my computer. Why? I
don't know. Oh, yeah, and my computer started randomly rebooting (I
must be a geek; the problem with getting high-resolution was more
important to me than the crashing problem).
Even with limitations, I still like the mechanic/computer guru
analogy.

(1) Hmm. This could be a hint for software makers. Wiper blades come
in a zillion sizes, maybe software should, too.
