Hi Sarah,

Yes I mean exactly that on. Turkey meet with internet in the second half of
(actually nearly end of ) 1980's. since then it had been a pleasure for
governmental/institutional workers and, especially, university students and
academics. They were supporting dial-up connections also, but only for their
own community (I was continuing to use one of my research assistant friend's
account to connect the internet after graduation, for example.

After then, in 1996, first ISP's started appearing here and there, and now
with more than a hundred ISPs and at least more than a hundred thousand
users, being an internet user is very common if you already have a computer
at home. This actually, a has been quick-and-dirty advance. My ISP has only
24Mbit of satellite access, and only 2Mbit of internal back bone, although
it is the biggest in Turkey. Ridiculous?..yes..it is...

access to internet (which has only several years of history, and even much
more new to the dial-up home user-only since the end of 1996) started to
make things easier, but as I explained they were not the way of life here
maybe till 1997.

Are you saying that the Internet only has several years of history in
Turkey? Because it's been around much longer here in the US -- I was a
dial-up home user in 1991 and I believe it's been around since the
1970s.
