Please do that, it seems like a VERY interesting idea!  When I read it it was
one of those "but of course, I should have thought of that myself!"-moments :)

It should, though, be possible to have the possibility to manually control
the train's movement (i.e. to let it recharge whenever it is on the powered
track[1], which should not be a problem since Lithium Polymer is used).  But
such automated way is also nice, for those who want some action and don't want
to bother with programming.

Metal rails and metal wheels is a good solution. :) Those burned out motors turn out to be a great way to pickup power from rails (when properly modified) that can be rerouted to the battery box charging port. BTW there is some talk about the Pf (...) (17 years ago, 27-Mar-08, to lugnet.trains)
