Hello all, rtlToronto has a LEGO Train Show this past weekend at Lillian H. Smith Library. A good time was had by all. There were approximately 150-200 folks who took the time to have a boo at our layout. The layout was done by Derek, Jeff E, Jeff (...) (22 years ago, 21-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

Blue panels are far superior in appearance, but be sure to not use blue bricks for your walls. Here's an example of blue panels in a skyscraper I did a while back. While breaking down some sets from a recent clearance run, I came across an interesting new part... 42607. It looks like a wing 12 x 6 with notched corners, but it has the distinction of having a technic brick (2 x 4) molded into the inboard end. (...) Hi! I was trying to do the same thing as in 4533 ((URL) with the technic wheels. It seems to be more on those wheel than on the train-wheels, tilting on one of the train wheelsets. Is it so? This might work well for the railroad enthusiast who is already familiar with such a system, but the average consumer would expect a "take it out of the box and it works" mentality. The pilot truck pivots behind the second axle of the pilot truck and the trailing truck pivots in front of the first axle of the trailing truck. This makes the pivots points as close as possible to the drivers so they do not swing so much. The (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

OK, look before you post. Now I get it. I was so busy trying to fit what I was seeing into the floating truck solution that it didn't make any sense. I was wondering where your leading and trailing truck pivot points were. Are each of these pivot points still between the axles of the respective trucks or in front and behind? I'll also go back and look at your pics. Would you mind if I used this (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Yes, the drivers are attached to the frame, for the reasons Shaun explains above and because that's how the real ones are built. By making the pilot and trailing trucks pivot closely to the drivers, I was able to keep the drivers over the (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)
