New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

Hey everyone, over at rebelscum.com they have some new pictures up. The A- wing, B-wing set(looks pretty cool), Flash Speeder, Kaadus, Slave 1, and the Tatooine Skiff. The Skiff set looks really small, maybe its just me. It seems all the sets (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Wow! Thanks! I was worried about how these sets would look after I saw the Slave I kit. But look at these! They're all pretty nice, IMHO. Certainly AFOLs have done better, but these aren't too shabby. eric (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Cool! Thanks for the heads-up. Hard to say from the pictures so far, but it sure looks like the 2000 sets are less appealing than this years. (for system, anyway - the technic sets look fantastic!) Yeah, I think they're all small. That A-wing (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) The A-Wing Fighter model looks a little weak, but looks like a good parts set. The B-Wing Fighter and Rebel Control Center looks way cool. Lotsa basic bricks, some hinge pieces. The Flash Speeder is a GREEN MILITARY VEHICLE. The irony is so (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Here is the link (URL) I think they are all a bit on the undersized side. Especially the A-Wing and the Skiff. I do like the Flash Speeder and the B-Wing control center looks like it might have some intriguing parts especially that thing that (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

Hi all, This is my first post though I've been reading for a while. I have to say that all of these sets look ok, but they are dissapointing compared to the original SW Classic sets. IMHO, the episode 1 sets were good as well, but not as good as the (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

In lugnet.starwars, Jeremy Sproat writes: But what does (...) I think it refers to the age of kids that should be building them. TLG seems really big on defining what ages should play with what sets. I realize it's only meant as a guideline, but I (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

After looking a few minutes, the models look decent, I have seen better renditions of all of them in the past couple of months, I am disappointed there are not more Empire vehicles. Great selection of parts, varied mini-figs, I am looking forward to (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) After seeing these models, I am absolutely dreading seeing what kind of a butchering job they are going to do on the Falcon. Where is the mid sized model we are always used to. Nothing is really bigger than the Xwing kit. I am hoping something (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Hmm... I'm kinda dissapointed, overall. Let's look at each one individually. Pices in perenthesis are my estimates. 7134 A-Wing($19.99): Bad - Too Small, the use of blue and dark gray screws up a nice color scheme, canopy that tilts up, chunky (...)   Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Not bad, not bad. My biggest suprise was the Flash Speeder. That looks like a really cool set. The A-Wing? Could have been a little bigger, but I like it. The B-Wing? Much better than the first sneak peak. . . the command center is intriguing (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Oops, forgot to mention why I was disappointed overall. It is because of the three big sets I was looking forward to, two are very poor renditions. The only one I really like as a set is the Slave 1. The little sets just don't make up for it. (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

Is it just me or does the Flash Speeder come with two 4x4 hinge plates and two 1x4 plates with horizontal hinges? I don't know the names sorry - really basic pieces though (4x5 when put together). It'll be great to have a ready supply of these in (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) I have to agree that there is reason to be concerned about the Falcon. My prediction: great pieces, severely under-scaled. I don't think that it is possible to do the Falcon justice (Minifig scale) with less than a thousand pieces, but, (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

RE: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

7134 A-Wing Actually the size is correct - counting studs and compareing it to the 9.6 meters of the 'full' size A-Wing that's one of the only new sets they managed to get right :) Dark grey and blue bricks I don't get that either - I would REALLY (...)   RE: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Well - they DO have the customers for it - I mean - asking people in my uni class - all around the age of 20 - 25 - then this is a dream come true - Millenium Falcon in Lego....... regards Jesper mailto:jesperkj@vip....bercity.dk (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

sorry, my thoughts on this message went to the wrong thread(see (URL) ) I dug up a rendering of the skiff I did. It's not completed and the slope texture is missing but you all can have a look. I also changed to color from brown to dk-gray since it (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Who is the Rebellion supposed to fight?!?

(...) Just took a look at the new sets... the Slave 1 is starting to grow on me now that I've had a second look. The other ships look fine too... it's about what I expected. but I just have one big qualm with the new sets... NO EMPIRE. Granted, we (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: Who is the Rebellion supposed to fight?!?

(...) My acid test will be how well it holds up to the "woosh test" -- is it fun to woosh around the house? Is it irresistable in that regard? I found the Snowspeeder and the X-wing Fighter both to be irresistable -- impossible for me not to woosh (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) Guys, I'm trying desperately to confirm this, but I think they already have a MF kit in pre-production. A good friends father did some senior consulting work for TLG, and as a little bonus they offered him the kit of his choice (on top of his (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) I think it's just you :) The 4 x 4 plates on the engines look to me like they are just normal plates. I think you are talking about the hinge plates that Gasgano's pod racer has (I think) 8 of in green. as for macaroni parts that other guy was (...) (25 years ago, 21-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

You guys are being way to hard on these sets. Look at them... They use REAL bricks! even the tail fins are real sloped bricks. Compare them to TownJr or recent "space" sets! The retail sets are never going to have the detail and scale of the AFOL (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) What is up with the spelling of "fighter"... check out (URL) the text from the source or from the catalog? Is it possible Lego would let an easy to spot typo make it into the final version? (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) I agree with Kevin. While none of the sets come close to what AFOLs have built, they are still light years ahead of any of the other current LEGO System theme sets. And like Kevin said, all the new Star Wars sets use basic bricks in lots of (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: New Pictures of 2000 SW sets

(...) At this point they better have an MF kit in prepro, or they'd never be able to deliver it in time. (...) Why didn't they post large scans?!?!? *Sigh*. Well, I am *very* happy with these sets. They are not the majorly-impressive SW models that we drool over on the web, but they are very well done production set for TLG. Lotsa bricks, some good (...) (25 years ago, 22-Oct-99, to lugnet.starwars)
