Thanks! Yes, it does take a considerable amount of Technic parts. It's
amazing how fast my little bins of part emptied as I built it!
The truss legs are stabilized by the flex cable system. The X pattern
attached on each side holds the platform steady, and prevents the individual
legs from spinning around.

The power cord for that lift runs up through one of the legs, and then exits
at the top. The cord then drapes down the length of the leg and then
connects to the motor on the lift platform. As the lift moves up and down,
the cord just follows along. It doesn't tangle (too much :-)
