The "cube" door was the result of a "DOH!". I built the platform and its
legs first, and when I started building the lower facility next, I realized
I didn't have a lot of room. I had decided on 3 corridor connections, with
the main elevator on the side without a corridor connection.
This left only the corners in which to place a main door, and the base of
each support leg was in the way! DOH!
So I thought an effective means of doorage (pardon the lame term ;-) was to
make some of the walls disappear. Having the door in two perpendicular parts
would allow a large open space to be created when they're opened. This would
create much more room to maneuver a vehicle in and out of the base.
