After a 15-year hiatus on space-themed MOCs, I've created a moonbase module:
http://www.texbrick.com/creations/m-base/index.html
Of course I had to use a lot of Technic pieces and add motorization ;-) It
has two lifts and a big door that are remotely controlled (using 4-channel
R/C unit from HiTechnic: www.hitechnic.com).
I built this module for our recent TexLUG meeting
(http://www.texlug.org/spring2003/index.html). There were a total of 9
modules in our layout, built by 8 different people. The previous link has
descriptions and pictures of the meeting.
I don't think I've ruined my interest in Technic/Model Team themed MOCs, but
I did this just for fun. And it really was a lot of fun! It brought back a
lot of memories from my childhood when I played with LEGO space sets.
thanks,
TJ Avery

| (...) Nifty! The support columns are really a marvel of engineering. I'd love to see more mechanized moonbase modules. Welcome back to space. Once the claws are in you, you won't be able to escape. Adrian -- (URL) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

| Beautiful! I really dig your trusses, very industrial. And of course the cube door is utterly brilliant, as are the lifts. I agree the internal detail i a bit sparse, but the amazing exterior more than makes up for it. Take care, Soren (22 years ago, 21-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

| well i agree with what the others have said very nicely done, cube door, struts and all but i'd like to say that i think the little ships are the best part those things are darn cool i'd love to see that become a fad and see some LUGfest MBases w/ (...) (22 years ago, 21-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

| (...) WOW!...wow! I like the use of the ball joint at the bearing point on the foot of the struts. The trusses are very industrial-strength looking. the cube door is very unique. I like the wedge ships the best, tho' Jeff (22 years ago, 22-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

| That has got to be one of the coolest uses of technic parts in a mini-fig scale MOC I have seen. As others have said it gives the landing pad a very utilitarian design. Very cool. -Mike Petrucelli (22 years ago, 22-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)
