Do you have Lucida Typewriter? Try setting your fixed-width font to default to that...it’s a bit easier on the eyes than Courier.

Roman face is nice because it’s a little easier on the eyes, esp. as was formatted on Lugnet previously.

Well, the only consolation I can offer today is a promise that we’re making movements towards CSS, which means that (sometime this summer) you’ll be able to set it to Times Roman if you prefer that.

To me it’s very much the case that you have fixed something that wasn’t broken.

For many people, though, Times Roman was very broken, and has been since we made the switch from Courier to Times Roman back in 1998 or 1999. Columns don’t line up at all in a proportional-space font. There’s been no end to the confusion caused by Times Roman over the years.
