EggArt - a 4-colour Easter egg painting robot

Just in the nick of time, the day before Easter, I completed building a 4-colour NXT Easter egg painting robot. I started building it several months ago, when I thought I'd have plenty of time before Easter. Of course, at about the 85% complete (...)   Re: March 17, 2007 SMART meeting

One more week until our next SMART meeting. Just a reminder that we'll be meeting at the Renton Technical College instead of our usual location.   Lego Robotics Instructor(s) needed this summer

I'm forwarding this from the Washington FLL yahoo group. I would consider doing this but at this time I'm not sure what weeks this summer I will be in the Seattle area.   Re: January 2007 SMART meeting notes

(...) I did some testing with encouraging results and programmed the robot to respond to sound this morning. My testing indicated that even if the sound was straight ahead, one sensor gave a higher raw signal then the other so I came up with a (...) (17 years ago, 1-Feb-07, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  NXT for $200

Inspired by the gentleman selling NXTs for $200 (I didn't have a checkbook with me or I probably would have got one), I did some searching on the web (I think I used Froogle) and found them for $199.99 from A Child's Delight, a toy store in (...) (17 years ago, 30-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  January 2007 SMART meeting notes

My son Sean has built 4(!) robots for the drawing challenge. I'm not sure how many of them we'll end up bringing to the meeting. The last one he built using his new NXT set.   Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) I don't know how accurate the big wired article on NXT was, but it says pretty clearly it is 50/50 adults and kids. "Such loyalty isn't unusual among the fanboys who've swooned over Mindstorms since its 1998 debut. Four years after its (...) (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Yeah, well,*I* am. There's already a Logical block that starts getting at this, but bit-wise opertations would be very nice to have sometimes. I agree, if we have arrays they should be arrays of anything (number, boolean, or string), but (...) (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) A copy of the MyBlock is not stored with the file that uses it. I've had several programs in NXT-G wind up broken because of changes to the MyBlock VIs they used. You definitely need to be very careful with MyBlocks. John Hansen (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Program to Manually Run Motors using NXT-Brick's Buttons

ScreenShot: (2 URLs) pretty self explanatory. It even shows three lines of help when you run it. I'm tempted to alter it to have two speeds. Sometimes the current speed is too fast. -S (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Well, they already have a boolean data type. If we have arrays, arrays of booleans doesn't seem like much of a stretch. I'm not asking for bit-wise Ands and Ors, Shirts or Rolls here ;).   Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Yep, I agree. It why one of the first things I did was write a MyBlock that would use file memory to hold and manage a 1-d array.   Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) All I'm asking for is fixed-size, global, 1-d arrays of numbers. I'd prefer floats or ints, but just ints (32 bit preferrably) would be fine. Arrays of Bits would be handy, too. There are many times when I'd like to make a 2D scan of an areas (...) (18 years ago, 8-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
