Re: July 29, 2006 SMART meeting

Last reminder about next Saturday's meeting at Digipen. Mini-challenge: bring a robot that can write or draw something. Also, If you're looking for an NXT, but didn't order one online, they are available at Toys R Us, and the LEGO store in Bellevue (...) (18 years ago, 22-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: July 29, 2006 SMART meeting

(...) Two weeks until our next SMART meeting. As usual, we'll be meeting at DigiPen. The mini-challenge is to build a robot that can write or draw something insteresting. You are perfectly welcome (but by no means under any obligation) to use an NXT (...) (18 years ago, 14-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) I don't know how accurate the big wired article on NXT was, but it says pretty clearly it is 50/50 adults and kids. "Such loyalty isn't unusual among the fanboys who've swooned over Mindstorms since its 1998 debut. Four years after its (...) (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Yeah, well,*I* am. There's already a Logical block that starts getting at this, but bit-wise opertations would be very nice to have sometimes. I agree, if we have arrays they should be arrays of anything (number, boolean, or string), but (...) (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) A copy of the MyBlock is not stored with the file that uses it. I've had several programs in NXT-G wind up broken because of changes to the MyBlock VIs they used. You definitely need to be very careful with MyBlocks. John Hansen (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Program to Manually Run Motors using NXT-Brick's Buttons

ScreenShot: (2 URLs) pretty self explanatory. It even shows three lines of help when you run it. I'm tempted to alter it to have two speeds. Sometimes the current speed is too fast. -S (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Well, they already have a boolean data type. If we have arrays, arrays of booleans doesn't seem like much of a stretch. I'm not asking for bit-wise Ands and Ors, Shirts or Rolls here ;). (but isn't something like 50% of their mindstorms (...) (18 years ago, 10-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Yep, I agree. It why one of the first things I did was write a MyBlock that would use file memory to hold and manage a 1-d array. Worked quite well, but it was slow, and I'm not sure what the ultimate read-write limits are on the flash memory (...) (18 years ago, 9-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) All I'm asking for is fixed-size, global, 1-d arrays of numbers. I'd prefer floats or ints, but just ints (32 bit preferrably) would be fine. Arrays of Bits would be handy, too. There are many times when I'd like to make a 2D scan of an areas (...) (18 years ago, 8-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

Re: Got my NXT on Wednesday

(...) Agreed. Although if it had full strong parsing ability, you could use the string variables as arrays. But yeah, I really miss (&, for somethings, need) arrays. Data structures I can do without (or roll my own with arrays). (...) As I'm sure (...) (18 years ago, 8-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  July 29, 2006 SMART meeting

The next (NXT?) SMART meeting will be July 29th. At the March meeting we already decided on the mini-challenge for this meeting. The vote was for building a robot that could write or draw something.   Re: May 20th SMART Meeting: BrickHeap Wars!

It's just over 10 days until BrickHeap Wars! We have 6 teams now, only two of which are SMART teams.
