  SMART Meeting Postponed!

The SMART meeting scheduled for this Saturday, May 21, is being postponed. I was going to run this meeting since David is in Europe but I will not be able to make it. I apologize for any confusion, or even worse, if anyone goes because they did not (...) (19 years ago, 20-May-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Meeting reminder

Hello, Here are some photos of the step ladder I built for the meeting. (URL) Overview> (URL) Rung Spacing> (URL) Bottom Rung Height> (URL) Width> As specified by David, the ladder has rungs 6" apart and bottom rung is 6" off the floor. I made the (...)   Re: Crate Contraption Writeups

Thanks to Philo, I've put up much smaller versions of the Crate Contraption videos for download. You'll have to have the latest DIVX codec (from www.divx.com) installed. The videos average 1/4 to 1/5 the size of the originals. (URL) on the Divx (...) (19 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Crate Contraption Writeups

On Thu, March 31, 2005 6:06 pm, David Schilling said: (...) This is the good thing about even the worst crate contraptions that's totally lacking in even the best GBCs. Continuity. It's very cool to see all the machines working together. I, for one, (...) (19 years ago, 1-Apr-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart, lugnet.robotics)

  Crate Contraption Writeups

I didn't want to post a writeup of the recent crate contraptions we've done until I had some video to show. Unfortunately all the video I took at NWBrickCon in October had really messed up audio. Last weekend we showed a nearly identical setup, (...) (19 years ago, 31-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart, lugnet.robotics) !

  May mini-challenge

(...) I've had a couple of questions about the step ladder. Here's a picture that shows what it will look like: (URL) If there are other questions, please ask -- post online so others can see them as well. (Especially as I'll be reading my email (...)   March 26th 2005 SMART Meeting Notes

We had a great SMART meeting at Crossroad Shopping Center yesterday. We had two robotic displays set up. First was an improved version of the Crate Contraption that we showed at NWBrickCon 2004. All the robots looked pretty much the same (though (...) (19 years ago, 28-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

Final reminder about this weekend's SMART meeting. We'll be meeting at Crossroads Shopping Center (corner of 156th Ave NE and NE 8th St in Bellevue) near center food court area. The official meeting time is from 2pm to 5pm, as usual. But the egg (...) (19 years ago, 25-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

Here are a couple of 'work in progress' pictures of the Easter Egg Hunt arena: (URL) black top has curled a bit, but we'll tape it down before using it. The walls will be fastened together properly, and there will be white tape around each of the (...) (19 years ago, 22-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

(...) The holes will have white tape around them (I think you said in a previous posting), so if there are robots that may fall into the holes, they could detect the edge of the circle before falling in (they'll need to in order to deposit the egg, (...)   Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

(...) All good questions. I was just starting to build the arena today (making larger at 8'x6'), though I haven't cut the holes yet. My plan was to make them complete circles, about 3" in diameter, with somewhere around 1" between the edges of the (...) (19 years ago, 19-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

I think a larger arena makes sense, so that it doesn't get too crowded. What size will the holes in the corners of the table be? How far away from the walls will the center of each hole be? (I'm trying to figure out if my wall detection will prevent (...) (19 years ago, 19-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: March 26th Smart Meeting

With our next SMART meeting a bit more than a week away, I wanted to tell everyone that the Easter Egg Hunt arena will be available from probably 11am for people to try it out, and make changes to their robots or programs as required. Don't forget (...) (19 years ago, 17-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  March 26th Smart Meeting

The next SMART meeting is just over two weeks away, on March 26th. We'll be meeting at Crossroads Shopping Center this month, but the time will be as usual, from 2pm to 5pm. The mini-challenge is a robotic Easter Egg Hunt. Build a robot that will (...) (19 years ago, 10-Mar-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Easter Egg Hunt

(...) Sure, anyone who'd like to bring an Easter Egg hunting robot is welcome. The more, the better! Unlike the past, this event isn't in addition to, but rather IS our normal meeting. As such it will run from 2pm to 5pm. We'd like people to stay (...) (19 years ago, 18-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)

  Re: Easter Egg Hunt

Is the arena open to anyone that brings an egg-gathering robot? My son and I haven't been to any of the meetings (but we have participated in the robot challenge last year and have been to many of your other public events) and we may put together a (...)   Re: Easter Egg Hunt

As promised, here are the specs on the Easter eggs that we'll be using for our Easter Egg Hunt robots. We'll be buying a bunch of Hershey's Solid Milk Chocolate Eggs. The eggs are about 1 1/8 inch long, and just a bit over 3/4 inch wide, or in (...) (19 years ago, 16-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.us.smart)
