I'm currently working on a design for rtl14 and hope to have a robot to enter.

I've seen a lot of back and forth on this question with good points by both
sides. Here's a few of my thoughts on the issue:
1. With AC power, a robot will have a (reasonably) constant power supply and any
programming that relies on time based sequences will perform fairly reliably.
Battery power will degrade and therefore makes the challenge *slightly* greater.
2. Changing batteries, if not rechargeable, is inherently unfriendly to our
environment.
3. Hanging/dangling wires could impede an opposition's robot. This could be
both a benefit and hinderance. It would be somewhat detremental to have one's
AC power cord pulled out by a passing robot. :)
Anyhow, those are just a few of my thoughts. As for voting Y or N, I'll vote Y.
Jeremy.
