Not this one, because I am still waiting on a case fan.  But I've
already overclocked one 300a with no problems, and I have the jumper

any idea how difficult it is to find a 3-inch case fan with the ATX
three-pin connector?  I had to order it, no local stores had anything
but power-supply fans ... sheesh.

Jumper settings?  Ick.  I use Abit motherboards - totally jumperless,
so I do everything from core voltage to clock multipliers, etc in the
BIOS.

17-inch monitor.  Once I replace that with a 1600x1200-19" maybe I will
ditch the video card as well.  What would you suggest for a not-too-
serious gamer who needs good color and resolution more than top-of-the-
line 3d acceleration?

Yeah, my 19" beats the heck out of my old 17".  With those qualifiers
you mention I'd say you could get a Riva TNT chipset card now
(Creative Labs, Diamond, Canopus and others make them) or maybe wait
for the ATI Rage 128 cards, which are sounding pretty good too.  I
have the Marvel for 2d and dual Voodoo2 12mb cards for 3d, but unless
you're really wanting the most power you can get 3d-wise (and the Riva
will do higher res and color depth that Voodoo2s, just not as much
power) that's kinda overkill.
