options, and hash it out ahead of time, with everyone (eventually) supporting
the most popular option; or 2: everyone inclined to set up a webring does so,
and market forces decide the issue.

We're mostly all in agreement here, then. What we're doing is choice 1. I
think choice 2 might be not so hot of an idea for the "general" ring (although
I may set up one just for GoB if the rest of the 'smiths want me to) as it's
divisive. Or at least dilutive. di-something anyway. We want people to see the
vast sweep of our efforts, right? 27 disassociated rings each with only a puny
fraction isn't quite the same. it's kind of the "why do people sell on ebay?
because people sell on ebay" effect.

2:I refute that time is money, BTW - if that were so, then in theory they
would convert in either direction across the equation, which they don't.  I
can invest time to get money (with varying efficiency), but have yet to find a
way to invest money and get time. :)

Not as a sure thing. However, look into extropianism and life extension.
That's an example of investing money in the (currently longshot) hopes of
getting time (as in time added to your lifespan to do more stuff). :-)

Wired said our kids may be the last generation with members that will die of
natural causes. I know, I know, they're not very often right but it's a neat
thing to ponder.
