If it makes you feel better, I hated it as a kid too. :)
I had a friend who used the improper plural and it sounded just as wrong back
then as it does today.

But then why bother teaching kids anything? For example, why bother sharing the
concept of a brick separator with them? Why not just let them use their teeth
to pull bricks apart? Yuck!
I think it's o.k. to encourage kids to start some good habits early. And the
proper use of the LEGO brand name is one of those habits. Having them talk
about "my LEGO bricks" or "can I please have some LEGO pieces" isn't going to
take any fun away from what you correctly describe as the coolest toy in the
world. :)

Or is it like telling a child to count 'sheeps' to help them get to sleep? :)
