    Instructions on CD ROM? —Jason Briscoe
   Has anyone thought of, attempted or suceeded in putting scanned instructions onto a CD ROM? I would be very interested if someone has done it? also whether its reasonably easy and of reasonable cost. I am very interested in gathering together a (...)      (...) I remember back when kl.net was just barely under 650 megs - I burned it onto a CD. Haven't grabbed the whole thing in a long while, though, so I bet it's at least 2 cds worth or more now.      I use CD-R and CD-RW quite often to take instructions home... (that way my employer pays for the download). I'm always left think that one cannot beat the real thing, or printed scans for that matter. I suppose separate CD's of each LEGO genre or (...)      That would be a good trick. My understanding is that since it's dynamically generated content using a hybrid of HTML and Perl that Todd invented, it would be hard to put on a CD statically and still have the search work. one could, perhaps, write a (...)      (...) Thanks! I sampled up the original 384x288 renderings to 768x576 by using some bicubic technique, and used these to make an MPEG animation.      The entire site is currently 4.5GB, including zips which make up half the space, and catalogs. So, if you wanted to put just the scans (no zip files)on cd, you would need 4-5 cd's, depending on how you divided it up. Of course, while making cd-r's (...)      don't feel bad, people run wget (or similar) all the time (resulting a 2-5GB daily download rate). However, for half the download time, you might want to do wget -A zip since everything is zipped (including the thumbnails and indexes) KL (...) In the real world, distributing bits as atoms is alot different than distributing bits as electrons or photons. Especially when you don't (...)    Hi, Because my kids destroyed my catalogs from 1990 until 1998 downloaded i the catalogs from 1966 until 1997 and burned them on CD. Now i can search for some items without being on-line.
