Yeah, I've been getting the same thing all day. Netscape is asking me for a username and password just to get into brickbay.com. No, it doesn't always die on weekends. But it has been seriously messed up since around sometime last Friday. Dan has stated in other threads that this was due to his service provider resetting all of the permissions on the server for some reason, (...) (...) <my own opinions folllow> My impression is that Dan chose Interland because it had the most cost effective bandwidth, features and serving capacity that he could find. BrickBay has had very few interruptions up until last Friday. Prior to this (...) (23 years ago, 18-May-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

(...) One problem with switching providers is that many web hosting companies offer the best deals if you pre-pay for an extended period of time - and I think Dan did this. Another is Brickbay requires IIS and Active Server Pages. I looked into web (...) (23 years ago, 19-May-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Sure, it would be a 50% increase in incoming fees, and it might make a difference in the amount of money Dan brings in (I would have paid about $128 this year so far instead of (...) (...) Hi Brickbay Fans :-) I have played with the numbers as well, as far I know has Dan so far had a revenue since the opening medio June 2000 of approximately USD 450-500,000 - that gives him only a profit of USD 9-10.000 since the beginning. Thanks for this analysis... now for some nitpicking, mostly around word usage (...)   Re: Brickbay problems........again

(...) I'm pretty much the same way, although I'd kick in as a buyer, I'd rather that sellers were carrying the extra weight. As a seller I'd happily go 3% - in fact I would have been willing to do 3% from day 1. James (23 years ago, 19-May-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: Brickbay problems........again

I just have 2 cents to add to the discussion. Cent 1 would be to charge a store opening fee in the neighborhood of $25. (...) While I certainly value a good venue, a $25 startup fee would almost certainly mean I'd never start a Brickbay store. Hi all ! Regarding 1st cent - shop oppening fee, I do agree with Brett and I'd pay around 25 $ anytime, but yes - it would retract new sellers. Therefore my proposal is to charge all the shops with 5-10 feedbacks and more! I don't think shop owners (...) (23 years ago, 20-May-01, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again)

This thread is a month old, but I've had a few thoughts on the subject and believe its a good time to toss them up for discussion.   Re: Thoughts on Brickbay fees (Re: Brickbay problems........again)
