While in Germany, check this out:-

Restore the flow of Lego out of oz ! Shipping...ouch.

I often wonder how effective it is to sell such a big lot. Lots of us might
drool but who has that kind of money?

Obviously you'd have to be a serious Lego collector to be spending those
kind of dollars (or DMs as the case is). But, if you were such a serious
collector and had that kind of dosh, you'd have acquired lots of those sets
already piece-by-piece on e-bay etc, and so you probably wouldn't want the
whole lot anyway.

As far as I can see, such a large collection could really only be sold to
someone who is filthy rich and just emerging from their Dark Ages without
any substantial collection and severe withdrawal symptoms. Not a huge group
of people IMHO.

Of course, not having the collector gene (which I realise a number of you
guys possess in full measure), I might not be capable of seeing the
situation from that point of view.

I'm not saying that such a collection isn't worth the starting price asked,
but I am questioning whether there are any buyers for such a collection.
Certainly, nobody is bidding.

I would have thought it a better strategy to sell such a collection off
theme-by-theme. Even theme-by-theme they would still be noteworthy auctions,
but the prices for each theme would individually be lower and hence open up
a wider audience of bidders. Of course, as I've never sold anything on
e-bay, I speak with no experience whatsoever! Still, it's fun to speculate!
