I was checing Ebay for train items when i found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=569662194

Seller location = Germany
Auction Currency = Australian dollars

Well, the seller has a number of items up (a number of yummy items too), and
they are all in AU$ and all showing as location Germany. There doesn't seem
any confusion about this as the seller talks about postage prices in AU$
too. Since there is also explicit mention of accepting US$ and CDN$, it
seems clear that they are not such a newbie that they don't know the
difference. Indeed, the auction descriptions look like someone who has done
this before, which suggests this is a new ebay id but not a new ebay seller.

Just a thought. Some days ago Ebay Australia has a no-fee listing day. Is it
possible that this seller listed on Ebay Australia that day to save the
listing fees? Maybe they had to (or chose to) create a new e-bay id to be
able to do this?

Another idea, though it is very left-field is..Did they confuse Austria and
Australia? Perhaps the German seller lives near Austria, they are neighbours
arent they? But then Austria wouldn't be a dollar currency anyhow. Confusing..

I have seen this occurring at least twice before as well.
The last time they had zero feedback as well (different userid) and were
auctioning some nice castle sets.
Just think, when you bid AU$, you know the value won't go up even when no bids
are made, which is what happens at the moment when you bid in US$.

So whats it all mean then? If I were to bid on this auction [1] should I be cautious and try and get more information from the seller? It sounds a little bit sneaky and suspicious for my liking. And If the seller is scamming Ebay, whos to say they (...) (24 years ago, 20-Mar-01, to lugnet.loc.au)
