Please don't get angry, because these are just suggestions, but...
Actually what I think this shows is that there really *are* people out
there who would like a -co option on the command line to automatically
uncomment the orthographic keyword. If you read any of the animation
tutorials, you'll see people messing with all of the camera options in
ways that aren't supported on the l3p command line. Just imagine what a
powerful tool l3p could be if all the camera options were available.
I agree that for a beginner, the automatic l3p camera positioning is
clearly the way to go, but why deny advanced users the ability to
do more? The current command line options only give the users partial
control. Why stop there? How about adding a -cs<x>,<y>,<z> option to
control the sky vector, and -cr<right> to control the aspect ratio.
I know it's only a few lines of code to pass values "as is" from the
command line to the POV file. Why not?
According to the camera tutorial on ldraw.org:
http://www.ldraw.org/reference/tutorials/freeform
"Although L3P supports some camera positioning options, this technique
doesn't use them. Just generate a POV-RAY file for your model using the
default options."
I think the key word there is "some". If they were *all* supported on
the command line that technique could be automated and made available to
folks who are intimidated by editing files by hand. Alternatively I
think a comand line option of -ci<filename> to include a premade POV
camera file might also benefit that technique.
Sorry about all that, I'll be quiet now.
