I used to do the odd povray animation and am just getting back into it • with
lego models, This would make a great little project for me to practice on • if
you don't mind.

Sure, go ahead. Do you mind if I use a copy on my site?

Of course, that's kind of what I had in mind, it is your model after all.

I've made a start on it. I broke the model up into subparts so that I can
manipulate and turn them independently in POV

a few questions:

There is a white rod down the center of the side plasma cannons.  Would you
mind if this was made transparent green?  I have an idea for the firing
effect where a light source  is shot down the center of the cannon when
firing, it needs to be transparent to really work.

Does the rear turret catch on the top turret when it flips up? it's hard to
tell from the Ldraw images.

Do the lights around the edge and on the top turret flash on and off all the
time like aircraft lights or do they have a special purpose?

What does it look like when it fires? is it a straight beam of energy? a
ball of light? a short burst like the blasters in star wars?

What is the firing rate on the different weapons?  I was thinking that the
two main cannons should be fairly slow, and probably out of phase while the
little turrets fire very rapidly and in phase with one another.

What style pilot do you picture in it?

Cheers
Tim

(...) That would be okay. I made the rod white only because that's the piece I used when I actually built the model. (...) No. I made sure of that on the real model. It's because I used 1x1 cone emitters for the rear turret. If they were 1x1 rounds (...) (26 years ago, 28-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)
