IMHO, I feel that they do figure prominently. 3 window/window related items out
of 20 is 15%. Compare this to the 20% that basic-bricks make up or the 10%
that plates make up, I’d say that Windows made a fair showing. When examining
the results, I tried to keep in mind that this is a cross-section of the
community’s needs. I’m surprised that the scales tip so heavily to specialized
items, such as the Windows and Garage Doors (See 1).
As to the 1 x 2 bricks versus 2 x 4 bricks debate, I voted for all 1x bricks,
as, in my constructions, I use few if any 2x bricks. I’d chalk this one up to
just personal preference. Some folks like the stability of 2xs, some the
increased flexibility of 1xs. Personally, I’d rather see 1xs than 2xs.
But, as for the windows, the numbers are good for windows and corresponding
elements. I didn’t bother voting for mullions, because it stands to reason that
1 x 4 x 3 windows would include the crucial bits (just for the sake of the
mass-consumer’s market, not the AFOL who may have thousands of spare mullions
laying around). But, the fact that mullions are in the mix proves that the
windows are wanted, as the majority of folks threw two votes away on window
elements.
I think we should all just see where this data takes TLC. We really have no
clue, although we may take stabs, as to what they plan on doing with this data.
