We are looking to bring all of our LEGO pieces (many thousands of US dollars worth) together into one building space. Currently we have ZAG storage units in two sizes (yellow and green) from the Home Depot. see photo at (URL) will probably go with (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.storage)

I use a stackable drawer system, which makes my 30k collection sorted and compact. They were purchased in here, Turkey, but you mot probably found similar or better in US. The drawer modules came in three sizes compatible to each other (I mean you (...) (25 years ago, 8-Dec-99, to lugnet.storage)

I would go with Tom So i would have to tear apart my models, put them in them bags "ziplocks" that you call in the US, i'm should be able to find them in the local supermarket. Put them back into there boxs. Any small or leaky boxs can going in a (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-99, to lugnet.storage)

Well, don't do this. Don't tear apart all your sets and then put them back in their boxes. A) The boxes (at least 1997 +) Do NOT keep legos in them very well. If all the sets are currently built, I'd disassemble them as much as is required to fit them back into their boxes. If you no longer have the boxes, invest in a significant quantity of Rubbermaid-type containers, in whatever sizes you think would (...) (25 years ago, 29-Nov-99, to lugnet.storage)

I didn't know that Dacta had special storage bins that you could buy separately (and empty) -- is there a website where I can take a look at these? Due to the cost of these, I've not had any experience with them. I think tha tyou'd be better served with cheaper non-lego storage boxes. Just my thoughts though... Re: Cutting with Heat.... Another faster, higher-power, easier to screw up with approach is to use the 'old' Weller type "soldering gun" which uses a resistance-heated copper tip. Hello all, I've found a reasonable storage solution for my technic bits. At the local handyman store (Clas Ohlsson here in Stockholm), they have boxes with various size compartments that can be closed and locked. I think they are made by Raaco. All (...) Thanks for the info Kevin and Larry! They look just about perfect for my needs. Any opinions on the narrow vs. wide shelves? Well, ABS can´t rust, but I´ve heard about mildew, so a dry place would be good. I just keep my pieces in the boxes, but.... I have no experience from "century-storage". I think that removing all the batteries and such is good, as well as keeping (...) (25 years ago, 16-Sep-99, to lugnet.storage)

I have found out about sorting by function. I do like this: All the hinges, 1*1 clips, 1*1 tile etc. are split up in groups, so that all 1*1 clips are in one group, in a color mix. Then, all the bigger bricks like 2*4 I sort by colour. This works (...) (25 years ago, 16-Sep-99, to lugnet.storage)

Call me a ditto head. I've had Ivar for 5 years and just keep getting more. One thing I did that I wish I hadn't... I tend to think that too much sorting is counter-productive. If you have one tray for every possible kind of part and colour, there's gonna be far too many trays for you to lay out before you can even begin building. On the other hand, if you put (...) (25 years ago, 15-Sep-99, to lugnet.storage)
