Ya I do a lot of lurking these days, now that I can't post through email.

You should all start posting.  Otherwise, people will think we're reponsible for
the demise of Lugnet... :)

It's not because I don't want to post.  It's a little conspicuous having a
lugnet window open at work.  An email client on the other hand makes it look
like you're doing work.  :-)  Plus I can spell check my messages.

As long as the string enters through the front 10" x 10" face and leaves through
the rear 10" x 10" face in a straight line between them, I'm happy.  Once the
round starts, you can do whatever you want with the string, or rope or whatever
we decide on.

Well, for that matter, why should the rope go in a straight line on the
horizontal plane?  By the same reasoning, you could do whatever you want with
the string--eg, move it to the other side, straight back again in the middle.

Actually, I don't care about the straight line thing.  I do agree with David's
original proposal that the string must be free moving through the robot at the
start.  Plus we discussed the fact we didn't want someone to wrap the rope up in
some photocopier like pulley system before the start.

My rationale for putting it at 2 inches for both competitors was to give a
common place to start, same as getting everyone to start with the rope in the
middle of the table.  After that you could tug it up, down, left or right.

It's just me poking at the fact there's always something in the rules that
different from the original discussion.  Last time the blocks went from 2x4 to
2x2. :-)

Calum, why is the robot on the right side of the table on the wrong side of the
line.

The robot on the right side is losing.  Don't be like the right side robot, he's
losing badly.

When I drew it I thought, "some obsessive compusive geek is going to complain
the right robot is in front of the line".  Then I thought, ah, whatever.  Why
should I be the obsessive compulsive one?  Chris doesn't think about stuff like
this....I should be free and happy like...Eric Sophie or something...

The only reason it stands out is you are discussing the setup, not the game-play
at that point in the rules.

But then I realize it's because then I'll get a post at 1AM saying there's
something wrong...

Sorry I was pretty grumpy that I was up at 1:00 am, now I'm pretty grumpy
because I wasn't sleeping at 1:00 am.  :-)

Derek
