If taxation were not evil -- and I were in favor of it, or if we're talking
about what a behavior a government should be incenting, given our modern
context, I think that the following things are most important:

- Education of the highest quality possible for the highest number possible.
- Keeping people fed while they get their education
- The assurance that our global neighbors are behaving

But what about police, "defence", courts, and some sort of governmental
foreign policy office?

Oh, all of those things should be privatized...oh wait, that's not the
conversation we're having...

Well, defense and foreign policy pretty clearly fall under "The assurance that
our global neighbors are behaving" above and police and courts I guess are just
a way of administrating the goals of government.  I certainly don't think that
either one should be the main emphasis of a government.

(But I really do think they should be privatized.)

Chris

My mistake. I misunderstood your position. Out of interest, how could the
police be funded outside the TAX system? Would one have to have insurance to
ensure , say, ones own murderer is tracked down? Would one also have to have
insurance to cover the cost of ones own murderer’s incarceration?
