I'll go even further than saying the probelm is caused by the lack of bulk bricks. The
bottom would fall out of the market for Metroliner's, Club Cars (I have seen these go
for >$300!!!!), and Airport Shuttles and the like if LEGO would make good sets.
It is really that simple; if there is good stuff to buy the demand for the old stuff
will drop. Yes, there will always be people that want the classic sets; personnally, I
want a 7740 (Intercity Train), and one of these days I may even bid on one.
If LEGO would make something (a train...I know I am obsessing) I could be excited about
I would not long (as much) for the sets of yore.
Don't you remember the first time you saw a Metroliner (insert a good set
here)...didn't you just stare in awe...open the cover...look at the PVC tray...and
simle like a moron. Then take a step over and say, "Hey, this freight train is great
too! I'll get the Metroliner after buying the less exspensive but very cool set."
(Don't you lave hoe LEGO always make an exspensive set and less expsensive set that
closely resembles the exspensive set; e.g., Black Seas Barracuda, Carribean (sp?)
Clipper; Metroliner, Laod n' Haul Railroad; and (for those of you that have been around
for a while) Galaxy Explorer, Space Cruiser combinations.
But I digress. My point, we must blame LEGO for creating this situation! But we can
still complain if people start acting like DeBeers (controlling a market by stockpiling
product is iega (to quote another thread) in the US).
Anyway,
Bye,
Chris

| (...) I dunno. Call me crazy, but I think the prices on things like the Metroliner would go ***UP*** (not down) if LEGO made more "good sets." The more "good sets" there are in a theme, the more people want to collect that theme. The more people (...) (26 years ago, 26-Mar-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)
