Dude, I hate to break it to you, but Cap doesn't just hide behind that sheild
like a shirking violet. He has been known to (gasp) hit people with it- even
throw it at them! That's really no less violent than X-Men.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Cap's movie from... uh, well, the
mid-90's. :D

Hmm. Well, the original X-Men (Cyclops, Marvel Girl [aka Jean Grey], Beast,
Iceman, and Angel) first appeared in the early 60's (1963?)- so they aren't
exactly spring chickens themselves. Granted, they aren't as violent as, oh,
say, Wolverine or Cable, but it's not like they were walking up to the
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and nicely asking them to please consider not
hurting people. And for that matter, Cap and Bucky weren't inviting the Ratzis
over for a nice tea to discuss their differences of opinion.
Anyway, if that theme really interests you (ie, older heroes vs newer ones, and
the change in the style of comics from the golden age to today), you might
enjoy Kingdom Come, if you haven't already read it.
FUT to off-topic.debate.
